Businesses geared up to help bring festive cheer to Linlithgow
As the rush begins in earnest to buy the Christmas presents, stock up on turkey and all the trimmings, businesses in a festive Linlithgow have been positioning themselves as a genuine option for savvy shoppers and their festive budgets.
High street traders are focusing on creating a festive atmosphere to attract Christmas shoppers. This includes eye-catching window displays, themed decorations, and special in-store experiential events.

Many are also offering exclusive festive themed products to entice customers. Additionally, they are enhancing the customer experience through a personalised service that is becoming a priority as retailers aim to differentiate themselves from online shopping options.
The Festive Linlithgow flyers, distributed by the Community Magazine, to every household in Linlithgow, has had the desired effect.
Many local people have been to local retailers with flyers in hand as ready-made Christmas shopping lists.
One Linlithgow, the business improvement district (BID) for the town area, announced a schedule of activities that started from late November, right up to Christmas Eve.

Festive Motif Lighting along the High Street
Following the decisive Yes vote by business owners to continue with the BID for another five years, One Linlithgow was able to commission the re-installation of over 70 festive motifs along the High Street to create the festive ambience we have all come to expect.
The High Street Trader’s Late Night Shopping evening proved to be a popular evening to mark the start of the festive buying season, along with the annual Festive Loyalty Draw to win up to £100 just by shopping in the town.
The local Community Council volunteers arranged the annual Advent Fayre that included the Torchlight Procession, Christmas Lights Switch on, Advent Fayre Market and Santa Dash along the High Street.

As we headed into December, with the first Saturday earmarked as the Linlithgow Artisan Market at the Vennel, Storm Darragh was causing havoc across the UK. A rare Red weather warning was announced so contingency plans were put into action.
Due to forecast high wind gusts, the outside market stalls could not be placed outside. However, around 20 stalls managed to be located inside the Community Hub and some traders braved the weather without stalls by setting up tables outside.
Linlithgow Snowman Trail.

The task is to find the Snowmen in the shop windows to spell out “Merry Christmas” to win a £50 voucher to spend in many of the shops in Linlithgow. And choose the best dressed window. The annual Festive Trail is a real favourite with the children as they search in lots of festive shop windows. They can even choose their favourite shop window while completing the trail. As the run up to Christmas starts to gather momentum, the images of children walking up and down the High Street looking for snowmen warms the heart.

Sky TV Promotional Advert.
As the days get shorter, presents start to get wrapped and decorations hung around homes across West Lothian, Linlithgow features on Sky TV channels and Channel 5 to encourage visits to the town to experience everything on offer. The advertising campaign runs up to Christmas Eve and is designed to put Linlithgow on the map. And in the minds of people from slightly further afield to experience a taste of Christmas in Linlithgow.
Festival of Christmas Trees.

The marvel of the St. Michael’s Festival of Christmas Trees was a real sight to behold, with a forest of lovingly decorated Christmas Trees placed in the church pews by local groups and organisations from the Linlithgow area. A phenomenal attendance of 3,654 people was recorded at the Festival of Christmas Trees by St Michael’s parish church
