High Street Linlithgow – some potentially exciting news about our long loved Star which has been closed since December 2022.
The Scottish Business Agency (SBA) who have been marketing the Hotel issued a Facebook statement on 23rd July 2025 to report that a new tenant has been found.
The SBA added – ‘It was always going to be a challenge, leasing a property built in 1759. There were numerous opportunities to have a deal agreed earlier in the process, however having the right tenant and longevity for the Landlord is crucial for a property of this age and scale.’
Standing at the gateway to the town, we will all be following the regeneration of the Star with much interest.
A WEE MINDIN’
(Previously 48 High Street) After 13 years on the High Street, owner Yvonne Sherratt closed the shop in March 2025. Yvonne explained that changing customer trends after Covid and rising costs meant that a High Street presence was no longer
affordable. The good news is that Yvonne continues to run her business online and has provided some insight into her continued time on the High Street –
‘In addition to my on-line presence I am also doing “pop up” shops in Linlithgow High Street. So far I have
had “pop up” shops in The Crannog Cafe. We will also do another one there at the Late Night shopping in November on the Thursday before the Advent Fayre.
I have had a pop up in The Bield at the West Port for residents who can’t get out to the shops. And I was asked to do a stall at The Fashion Show at The Rugby Club to raise funds for the Marches.
I will continue to have “pop ups” joining with any other Independents on the High Street who wish to invite me. Our next one is in Mason Homes (used to be the Thread Counter) on Saturday 6th September. So, as you can see, we haven’t quite left the High Street completely.

Owner Emma Gibson closed the shop in July 2025 but continues to trade online and at markets.
